It is becoming increasingly common for British universities to forge links with universities overseas. However, Kingston University Faculty of Engineering has recently formed a new partnership with a well known and prestigious university Iran, KN Toosi University in Tehran.

The project started with visits between the two institutions' departmental heads. In the course of the visits it became clear that there was a great need for postgraduates, especially in automotive engineering in the Iranian automotive industry.

A MSc course in Automotive Engineering was subsequently developed by Dr Khalili of KN Toosi and Mr Denis Marchant of Kingston Uiversity (Faculty of Engineering) whereby postgraduate students can start their course in Iran and then complete it in an accelerated programme at Kingston. The course will include a project on an industry related topic either supervised in Iran or in the UK
